Pictured above is a custom repousse copper weathervane of a red Kite (entirely gilt). This is a stylized design, with the deliniation between feathers greatly simplified, compared with our more ornate birds like the KESTREL (picture below).
The gold is applied to the raised feathers on the wing, with the striations between, left copper. The cardinal letters are also ungilded.
