Pictured
above is a monumental custom repousse copper weathervane of Lady
Liberty. She stands with "Liberty" sword, holding aloft
the American flag. The eagle motif at the base was inspired by noted
New England woodcarver John Haley Bellamy. The ribbon reads "American
Museum in Britain". The Banner is inscribed with two dates
1961-2011 to commemmorate the 50 year anniversary of the Museums
opening. This weathervane, which measures nearly 8ft. tall, was
commissioned to celebrate the opening of the Museums new Folk Gallery. This weathervane was featured in an article in The Magazine Antiques, July/August 2011. |
