"...The quality of the Greens’ weathervanes is superlative, as is their appreciation of the copper weathervane tradition. I cannot recommend the Greens highly enough and look forward to working with them again. "

-Laura Beresford
Curator
the American Museum in Britain

Greens Weathervanes
the artists at their Dartmoor studio
"one of the most highly regarded vane-makers in the world"
-How to Spend It, The Financial Times

Our studio is a passion born from the love of the elements, well-made objects, art, architecture and creating something with your hands (especially when welding torches are involved!). Weathervanes are beautiful objects. Whether seen as architectural features, kinetic artworks, sculpture, folk art, or collectible investments, the weathervane is part of our history, having graced our skylines for over 2,000 years.

"For the ultimate weather vane look no further than Greens Weathervanes "
-The Telegraph

Georgian Farmhouse, the frontage

Woodfield Farmhouse
Guy's Estate, Tyberton

With four children, two dogs and a good collection of tools, it's hard to find a house with suitable studio space. Our first studio (en plein air) was opened in the summer of '95 on Martha's Vineyard (Cape Cod, Massachusetts). We transplanted ourselves to the Southwest of England in 1997. First to a stableyard studio at Cockington Court (Torbay), and then up onto the high moors, where we settled for the next seven years. In 2008 we moved from our Dartmoor cottage to our current studio in Herefordshire. The house, part of the Duchy of Cornwall Estate, has a Georgain frontage which currently acts as our gallery space. The old part of the house, at the back, could date back 600 years. Here our studio, up a flagstone staircase, is shared with the swallows and bats in the old granary.

Woodfield farmhouse, it's outbuildings & paddock are being renovated and restored in as "green" a fashion as possible. We are trying not to spray anything on the fields or disturb the character of the house (or the wasps nests in the eaves of the studio). It is our hope that in the future, visitor's will come to the farm as much to pat our Tamworth pigs, Soay sheep, & try our cider as to see our weathervanes, sign up for a class or take in a show in the gallery. To find out how we're getting on, why not visit our blog.
